«GLOBO MADRID» no gestiona foros propios.

Editorial enquiries, error reports, requests for rectification and complaints concerning publications may be sent to the email address above. Requests for rectification should clearly identify their purpose and be addressed to the editor. Service of legal proceedings and other notices subject to special formalities are governed by the applicable procedural rules.
Scope of this legal notice
This notice identifies the entities involved in operating “GLOBO MADRID”. The applicability of Law 34/2002 on information society services and electronic commerce is determined under Articles 2 to 4. Article 4 covers providers outside the EU and EEA that specifically direct their services to Spain, subject to applicable treaties. Using an “.es” domain does not, by itself, establish a business presence in Spain.
Spanish and European legal framework
Within their respective scopes, the legal framework includes the Spanish Constitution; the European Convention on Human Rights; the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union; Law 34/2002; Organic Law 1/1982 concerning honour, privacy and image rights; Organic Law 2/1984 on rectification; Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and Organic Law 3/2018 on data protection; and legislation concerning intellectual property, advertising, unfair competition, consumers and children. Regulations (EU) 2022/2065, the Digital Services Act, and 2024/1083, the European Media Freedom Act, are also relevant where the activity falls within their scope. Legal references are to the provisions in force and their interpretation by the competent courts. This notice does not displace applicable mandatory rules of other countries.
Historical background and the present publication
The historical newspaper “El Globo” was founded in Madrid by Emilio Castelar in 1875. Its prospectus issue appeared on 21 March 1875, and regular publication began on 1 April that year under the subtitle “diario ilustrado”. The 151st anniversary of the start of regular publication fell on 1 April 2026. The present digital publication “GLOBO MADRID” draws on this historical reference in Madrid’s press. The original newspaper’s history does not imply uninterrupted publishing activity, legal identity or corporate succession in relation to that publication. Today’s edition reports on Madrid, Spain, Europe and the wider world, with particular attention to politics, business and matters of public interest. Its news service is published 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in Spanish, English, German, Italian, Portuguese and French.
Editorial profile
“GLOBO MADRID” is a publication with a liberal-conservative orientation whose editorial direction is determined by its publishers. Independent journalists and contributors also participate in its various sections. The publication covers national and international affairs, civil rights, civic participation, democracy and matters of public interest, with particular attention to Madrid and developments in Spain and Europe.
Journalistic principles
Editorial work is guided by accuracy, source attribution, contextual reporting and a distinction between news, analysis, opinion and commercial messages. Reports reflect the information available when they are published. Established errors will be corrected in a manner appropriate to their significance and reach. Signed opinions are attributed to their authors, without excluding any responsibility that the publisher may legally bear for their publication.
Freedom of expression and information
Article 20 of the Spanish Constitution protects the expression of ideas and opinions and the communication and receipt of truthful information, without prior censorship and subject to constitutional limits. At European level, Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Article 11 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union are relevant, the latter within its scope of application. These safeguards also protect media freedom and pluralism.
Case law on accuracy and journalistic diligence
Spanish Constitutional Court judgment STC 6/1988 of 21 January links the constitutional requirement of truthfulness to diligent verification of facts. Protection does not require absolute accuracy, but it does not extend to presenting rumours or inventions as verified facts. The diligence required depends on the circumstances of the report. Opinions will be distinguished from factual assertions requiring verification.
Case law on third-party reports and statements
STC 76/2002 of 8 April addresses the doctrine of neutral reporting. Its application requires, among other conditions, identifying the person making the statements and reporting them faithfully, without making the publication the author of the allegation. Diligence then concerns whether the statement was actually made, subject to the requirements of this doctrine. Naming a source does not provide general immunity from liability.
Reputation, privacy, image rights and the presumption of innocence
The publication will respect the rights protected by Article 18 of the Spanish Constitution and Organic Law 1/1982. Using images or private information requires consent or a sufficient legal justification. A person’s prominence does not make their entire private life a matter of public interest. Investigations, complaints and accusations will be distinguished from established facts and final convictions.
Case law on images obtained from social media
STC 27/2020 of 24 February establishes that a photograph’s public accessibility on a social network does not amount to general permission to reproduce it in a newspaper. Publication requires consideration of consent, statutory exceptions and newsworthiness. The technical ability to download an image does not replace that assessment or remove any applicable copyright requirements.
Right of rectification
Under Organic Law 2/1984, rectification must be requested from the editor within seven calendar days following publication, with evidence of dispatch and receipt. It must concern facts and not substantially exceed the report’s length unless necessary. When statutory requirements are met, it will be published in full, free of charge and with comparable prominence within three days of receipt, without added commentary. Requests may be sent to [email protected]. Statutory court remedies and deadlines remain available.
Case law on the scope of rectification
STC 168/1986 of 22 December explains that publishing a rectification does not definitively establish that the original report was false or that the applicant’s account is true. The procedure enables an alternative account of facts affecting a person to be published without replacing judicial proceedings intended to determine their accuracy or establish liability.
Updating reports and digital archives
Articles 85 and 86 of Organic Law 3/2018 provide for explanatory and updating notices alongside digital media reports. A reasoned request for an update may be made when subsequent events mean that a report no longer reflects the individual’s current situation and causes harm. This includes subsequent favourable judicial decisions concerning matters previously reported as police or judicial proceedings. The request should identify the report and the subsequent developments.
Protection of journalistic sources and communications
The confidentiality of journalistic sources and communications is protected by the safeguards in Article 20(1)(d) of the Spanish Constitution and, where applicable, Article 4 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1083. Disclosure demands must comply with applicable statutory conditions, proportionality and review safeguards. This protection does not create general immunity from the law.
Transparency and editorial independence
Within its scope, Article 6 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1083 requires accessible information about the provider’s identity, influential owners, beneficial owners and specified annual amounts of public advertising revenue. It also establishes safeguards for independent editorial decisions and disclosure of relevant conflicts of interest. Identifying technical or advertising partners does not replace any required ownership information.
Responsibility for published content
SCANDIC TRUST GROUP LLC bears the responsibilities legally associated with its editorial activities. In its judgment of 11 September 2014 in Case C-291/13, “Papasavvas”, the Court of Justice of the European Union distinguished a publisher with knowledge and control of its content from intermediaries benefiting from certain liability exemptions. Material originating from agencies or contributors does not automatically remove responsibility for publishing it.
News archives and requests for de-indexing
Requests concerning archives require a balance between public interest, age, accuracy and their effects on the individual concerned. In STC 58/2018 of 4 June, the Spanish Constitutional Court considered it proportionate, in the circumstances examined, to prevent searches using names and surnames within a newspaper’s internal archive search engine while retaining the report. Preserving an archive and locating its contents through personal-name searches are distinct matters.
European case law on search engines and inaccurate information
In its judgment of 8 December 2022 in Case C-460/20, “TU and RE v Google”, the Court of Justice of the European Union examined the removal of links where sufficient evidence establishes the manifest inaccuracy of relevant information in the indexed content. The search engine’s obligations are distinct from those of the publisher. De-indexing and correcting or removing the original publication may require different action.
Notices of possible infringements
Anyone who believes that content infringes their rights may contact [email protected], identifying its location, the disputed facts, the right concerned and relevant supporting information. Sufficiently specific notices will enable appropriate action to be taken. This contact is not a general prerequisite for obtaining legal assistance. Applicable procedural requirements will be respected, including the exceptions to prior negotiation under Article 5 of Organic Law 1/2025 for civil proceedings protecting fundamental rights. Expenses and legal costs are governed by the relevant legislation.
Links and external services
Links facilitate access to third-party information and services. Their inclusion does not imply adoption of all their contents. The Court of Justice of the European Union’s judgment of 8 September 2016 in Case C-160/15, “GS Media”, requires consideration of knowledge that linked works were published without authorisation and the circumstances of the link, including whether it was provided for profit. An external link does not automatically confer immunity from liability.
Forums, user contributions and intermediary services
“GLOBO MADRID” does not operate its own forums. Interactions on external platforms are also subject to their operators’ terms. If participation features are introduced, their rules of use and moderation will be explained. Regulation (EU) 2022/2065, the Digital Services Act, applies to functions constituting intermediary services within its scope. Publishing the newspaper’s own news content does not, by itself, make it an online platform or confer exemptions reserved for intermediary activities.
Advertising and editorial independence
Advertisements, sponsored content and commercial collaborations will be clearly identified. Law 34/1988 on advertising and Law 3/1991 on unfair competition will be respected, including the prohibition on presenting paid promotion as journalism without identifying its commercial nature. Purchasing advertising does not entitle an advertiser to direct news coverage or prevent legitimate criticism. Regulated sectors must comply with their additional requirements.
Contracts and consumer protection
Where services subject to Spanish consumer law are offered, information will identify the provider, the service’s characteristics, total price, duration, renewal and cancellation terms. Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007 and the fourteen-calendar-day withdrawal right will be respected where applicable. Exceptions concerning newspapers, subscriptions and digital content apply only when their requirements are met; beginning access does not automatically extinguish that right. Mandatory rights will not be excluded through unfair terms.
Consumer complaints and alternative dispute resolution
Complaints may be addressed to the provider identified in the contract and to the competent bodies. Where Law 7/2017 applies, the required information about accredited alternative dispute resolution bodies and the trader’s participation in their procedures will be provided. This notice does not constitute adherence to an arbitration scheme. The former European online dispute resolution platform was discontinued under Regulation (EU) 2024/3228 and ceased operating on 20 July 2025. It is not a current channel for complaints.

Business news and press release distribution services are provided within the scope of the commissioned service and the terms of the distribution channels used. Distributing a communication does not guarantee publication by third parties, acceptance as regulated stock-market information, or approval by an exchange or financial authority. Commercial content will be identified according to its nature. Issuers, advertisers and other participants retain their obligations within their respective areas of responsibility.
Personal data protection
Regulation (EU) 2016/679 —the GDPR— applies under Article 3, including processing related to offering services to individuals in the Union or monitoring their behaviour there. Organic Law 3/2018 applies within its scope. Specific information is provided in the privacy policy. Article 85 GDPR requires reconciliation of data protection with freedom of information; journalistic activity does not confer an indiscriminate exemption.
Exercising personal data rights
Requests for access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction, portability and other applicable rights may be sent to [email protected]. Exercising these rights is generally free. Responses will be provided without undue delay and within one month at the latest. Any extension of up to two additional months must be justified and communicated within the first month. Proportionate identity information may be requested where reasonable doubts exist. Each right’s conditions and exceptions will be respected.
Data protection authorities
Individuals may complain to the competent supervisory authority, particularly in their country of habitual residence, place of work or the alleged infringement. In Spain, complaints may be submitted to the Spanish Data Protection Agency through the procedures at www.aepd.es. A complaint about failure to honour a right requires a prior request to the controller to exercise that right. This requirement does not apply to every complaint alleging an infringement.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies and equivalent technologies will comply with Article 22(2) of Law 34/2002 and, where relevant, the GDPR. Non-exempt technologies require clear information and valid prior consent. Acceptance and rejection will be offered simultaneously, with equal visibility and ease of access. Continuing to browse does not constitute consent. Withdrawal must be as easy as giving consent. Specific information will identify the technologies used, their purposes and management options.
Technical providers and international transfers
Technical operations incorporate services from ASPECTRA / CONVOTIS Schweiz AG, Iron Mountain and Darktrace, according to the contracted services. Processing arrangements will be subject to Article 28 GDPR. International transfers require an applicable legal mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards, together with necessary assessments and supplementary measures. Derogations may be used only where their conditions are met. A provider’s location, a hosting contract or the existence of encryption does not, by itself, make a transfer lawful.
Copyright and use of content
Texts, photographs, videos, graphics and other materials are protected under Royal Legislative Decree 1/1996 and applicable treaties. Restricted uses require authorisation unless a statutory exception applies and its conditions are met, including those concerning quotation and current-events reporting. Merely naming the source does not authorise every reproduction. Authorship, integrity and third-party rights must be respected. Internet accessibility does not confer a general licence to exploit content.
Materials submitted to the newsroom
Submitting a text, photograph, video or proposal does not guarantee publication or automatically create an entitlement to remuneration. Terms of use will be agreed where appropriate. Contributors must hold the necessary rights and avoid unjustified disclosure of third parties’ personal data or confidential information. Submission does not automatically transfer all rights in the material. Publication will respect authorship and applicable conditions of use.
Protection of children and adolescents
Reporting will consider children’s best interests, dignity, privacy and image rights. Under Article 4 of Organic Law 1/1996, consent from a child or their representatives does not legitimise using their name or image contrary to their interests or in a manner damaging to their honour or reputation. Unnecessary identification and exposure that aggravates vulnerability or victimisation will be avoided.
Availability and scope of information
The publication seeks to keep its services accessible and its information current. Technical interruptions and editorial changes may occur. General content does not constitute individualised advice or a personal investment recommendation. These statements do not exclude legally enforceable liability, contractual obligations undertaken or users’ non-waivable rights.
Applicable law and dispute resolution
Applicable law and jurisdiction will be determined under the relevant rules, including, where appropriate, Regulations (EC) 593/2008 —Rome I— and (EU) 1215/2012 —Brussels I bis—. A contractual choice of law will not deprive consumers of mandatory protection available under Article 6 of Rome I. Protective consumer jurisdiction rules will be respected where their requirements are met. This notice does not impose the exclusive jurisdiction of foreign courts.
Language versions and amendments
The Spanish and English versions are intended to facilitate understanding of the same information. A translation discrepancy will not limit mandatory rights or replace the official wording of legislation or judgments. Updates to this notice will be identified by their date. Publication of an update does not, by itself, amend existing contracts or obtain consent for new processing of personal data.
